Carol Conzelman, PhD

  • Background in secondary education in biology and geology, and higher education in anthropology and international affairs
  • Experience in pedagogy, ethnographic fieldwork, Study Abroad programs, public speaking, event and conference session organization, and publishing for a public or policy audience
  • Teach classes on democracy, drug policy, globalization, development, immigration, sustainability, social entrepreneurship, Latin America, and community engagement 
  • Focus on Qualitative Research, Volunteer Preparation & Experience, Academic Curriculum, and University Engagement 
  • Participated in 14 Global Volunteers service programs: 
    • as a volunteer: Costa Rica (1994) and Tanzania/RCP (2018)
    • for Team Leader training: Texas (1995), Minnesota (2003–Pelican Bay), and Cuba (2012 inaugural team)
    • as a Team Leader: Jamaica (1995 and 1997), Italy (1995), Ecuador (1996), Tanzania (two programs in 2000), Ireland (2005), and Cuba (2013)
    • as a board member and RCP committee chair: St. Lucia (2016)
  • Served on the Global Volunteers Board of Directors 2000-2003 and 2014-2018
  • Chair of the RCP Advisory Committee 2014-2018 (member 2018 – present)
